BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18
By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:
The ten-year analysis of gas production in Azerbaijan’s giant Shah Deniz gas and condensate field shows that it has increased the output by 9.9 billion standard cubic meters from 2010 to 2019, Trend reports with reference to BP data.
During the period from 2010 to 2019 Shah Deniz saw a decrease in year-on-year gas output only in 2011 and 2017.
During 2010, the field produced about 6.9 billion cubic meters (more than 243.4 billion cubic feet) of gas and 1.9 million tonnes (14.7 million barrels) of condensate.
In 2011, this figure dripped to 6.67 billion cubic meters (more than 235 billion cubic feet) of gas and 1.8 million tonnes (14 million barrels) of condensate.
No BP data is available for 2012 full year results.
In 2013, the field ramped up the production to 9.8 billion cubic metres (about 345.5 billion cubic feet) of gas and 2.48 million tonnes (19.6 million barrels) of condensate.
In 2014, the field produced 9.9 billion standard cubic metres of gas and 2.3 million tonnes (18.7 million barrels) of condensate.
In 2015, the field’s production remained unchanged year-on-year, stabilizing at about 9.9 billion standard cubic metres (bcm) of gas and 2.3 million tonnes (about 18.3 million barrels) of condensate.
In 2016, the field rose its production to 10.7 billion standard cubic metres (bcm) of gas and 2.5 million tonnes (about 20 million barrels) of condensate.
During 2017, the field again reduced its output to about 10.2 billion standard cubic metres (bcm) of gas and 2.4 million tonnes (about 19 million barrels) of condensate.
In 2018, the field’s output rose to 11.5 billion standard cubic metres (bcm) of gas and more than 2.5 million tonnes (20.5 million barrels) of condensate.
In 2019, the field produced around 16.8 billion standard cubic metres (bcm) of gas and 3.5 million tonnes (28.6 million barrels) of condensate in total from the Shah Deniz Alpha and Shah Deniz Bravo platforms.
As a result of measures arising from the OPEC+ agreement, between the beginning of May and the end of December 2020 Azerbaijan's oil production will decrease by 17.4 million barrels, amounting to 141.8 million barrels in total. In 2021, the country's total crude oil production is forecasted at 30.7 million tons or 226.3 million barrels. These figures do not include hydrocarbon production by the Shah Deniz consortium and the Umid Babek Operating Company, nor is the condensate production by SOCAR's Azneft PU and Bahar Energy Operating Company Limited included.
