By Leman Zeynalova - Trend:

Sangachal terminal’s oil exports have decreased by 61 million barrels from 2010 to 2019, Trend reports with reference to BP data.

During 2010 the Sangachal terminal exported about 324.4 million barrels of oil (including 285.65 million barrels through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC), 29.6 million barrels through the western route export pipeline [WREP] and 9.3 million barrels through rail).

Sangachal terminal’s exports dropped to about 291.5 million barrels of oil in 2011 (including 257.3 million barrels through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC), 28.3 million barrels through the Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP) and 5.9 million barrels through rail).

During 2013, the exports continued downward trend standing at about 286.2 million barrels of oil. This included 248.7 million barrels through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC), 29.9 million barrels through the Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP), 5.7 million barrels by rail and 1.9 million barrels via a condensate export line.

Sangachal terminal increased exports to exceed 298.5 million barrels of oil in 2014. This included over 260 million barrels through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC), over 31.4 million barrels through the Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP), about 5.3 million barrels by rail and about 1.84 million barrels via a condensate export line.

In 2015, the Sangachal terminal slightly reduced its exports to over 296 million barrels of oil and condensate. This included about 261.6 million barrels through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC), about 31.4 million barrels through the Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP), 2.2 million barrels by rail and about 0.9 million barrels via a condensate export line.

BP data shows that the exports continued to drop in 2016 standing at more than 286.8 million barrels of oil. This included over 253.4 million barrels through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC), over 30.3 million barrels through the Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP), and more than 3.1 million barrels via a separate condensate export line.

During 2017, the Sangachal terminal exported more than 283 million barrels of oil, including third party volumes. Of this, more than 253 million barrels were exported through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC), 28 million barrels through the Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP), and more than 2 million barrels via a separate condensate export line.

A slight recovery was observed during 2018, when the Sangachal terminal exported about 284 million barrels of oil. This included around 255 million barrels through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC), about 28 million barrels through the Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP), and 1.3 million barrels via a separate condensate export line.

In 2019, the Sangachal terminal exported about 263 million barrels of oil. This included about 235 million barrels through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) and about 28 million barrels through the Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP).

Gas is exported via the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), the South Caucasus Pipeline expansion system and via SOCAR gas pipelines connecting the terminal’s gas processing facilities with Azerigas’s national grid system.
