Around 3.7 billion barrels of oil were produced by Azeri-Chirag-GUnashli (ACG) block of oil and gas fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea from first oil in 1997 to the end of 2019, Trend reports citing BP in Azerbaijan Sustainability Report 2019.
ACG, operated by BP, is the largest oilfield in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian basin, located about 100km east of Baku. ACG is geologically challenging with a complicated seabed topography including slumps and mud volcanoes.

Production began in 1997 from the Chirag section. ACG currently has eight offshore platforms: six production platforms - Central, West and East Azeri, Deepwater Gunashli, Chirag and West Chirag, and two process, gas compression, water injection and utilities platforms.
At the end of 2019, a total of 125 oil wells were producing, and 46 wells were used for water and seven for gas injection. A total of 10 oil producer and one water injector wells were completed during the year.
