Turkmenistan to increase capacity of its energy sector

Turkmenistan aims to increasing the capacity of the country's energy sector, Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan Charymurat Purchekov said during a working meeting held by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

Currently, the country is upgrading infrastructure of the sector with new gas-turbine power stations built in Ashgabat, as well as in the Akhal, Balkan, Lebap and Dashoguz regions, the report said.

The president stressed that the energy sector is one of the main branches of country's national economy, and plays an important role in the implementation of state programs. It was noted that the country is also carrying out comprehensive work to strengthen the material and technical base of the energy industry, as well as to increase the volume of electricity supplies abroad.

The president of Turkmenistan stressed the importance of increasing the capacity of the national energy system and the use of digital technologies in aforesaid field.

In this regard, the participants of the meeting were instructed to monitor the progress of the projects, while paying special attention to the creation of a single electrical grid to ensure uninterrupted power supply within the country.

Turkmenistan is working on a number of major investment projects aimed at strengthening the raw material base of the fuel and energy sector, building up its production potential and export capabilities.
