About 89 solar panel stations for apartments have been commissioned in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) despite the spread of the coronavirus and the closure of many workplaces since the beginning of the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020), director general of the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee (IKRC) office in Hormozgan province Ali Allahyari told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Allahyari, each of these stations has the capacity to generate 5 kilowatts of electricity.

Allahyari added that in total, 46.7 billion rials (about $1.1 million) were spent on the purchase and construction of these panels.

The official said that these stations are created for the employment of low-income families. Thus, the regional electricity company buys additional electricity from these families.

The effective life of each solar panel station is 20 years.

As many as 142 solar panel stations have been commissioned in Iran's Hormozgan Province over the past three years.
