Trend:

Iran has successfully reconstructed the Sahar II offshore drilling rig and has safely transferred it to the Sirri Island in the Persian Gulf, Managing director of the North Drilling Company Massoud Eydi told Trend.

"The reconstruction was done in less than three months," he said.

"The project was implemented by experts of Iran's North Drilling Company and other domestic companies, including Iran's Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Company (ISOICO)," he said.

"Thanks to the project, more than 105 direct and 300 indirect jobs were created, and the project was completed without any accidents," Eydi added.

He said the reconstruction included full painting of the main platform, installation of the helicopter platform, reservoirs, cranes and other equipment.

"Major parts of valves were replaced and reconstructed including drain valve in fuel and water reservoirs, alongside inspections and cleaning of fuel and fresh water reservoirs ," he said.

Eydi said that reconstruction of drilling platforms is a considerable success for the country since the offshore drilling rigs are important for oil and gas production in joint fields.

The North Drilling Company owns 9 onshore drilling rigs, 3 offshore drilling rigs, and also provides technical services. The company has support operational bases in north and south of Iran.

The mentioned drilling rig reconstruction was carried out despite coronavirus, halt of industrial activities and transportation.
