The repair work is underway on the phases of Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field (this field is called North Dome in Qatar), from April 4, 2020, production manager of Pars Oil and Gas Company Alireza Ebadi said, Trend reports citing the company’s official website.

The manager said that the repair work on 10 phases of the gas field was successfully completed within 45 days.

Ebadi added that by the end of 7th month of current Iranian year (October 21, 2020), repair work will be completed on 24 phases (excluding phase 11) of the South Pars gas field.

"Overhaul of the South Pars gas field’s phases is being carried out in the first half of the year due to reduced gas demand. The repairs are carried out in order to protect production and eliminate shortcomings," he said.

The South Pars gas field is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. At present, Iran's daily gas production from the South Pars gas field is more than 700 million cubic meters. Iran has so far spent $33 billion on projects related to the South Pars gas field. Iran has 24 phases in this field.

Around 75 percent of Iran's gas is supplied by this field.
