The US will help Georgia to explore mineral reserves, Trend reports citing Georgian media.
In the near future, a memorandum of cooperation is expected to be signed between Georgia and the US, on the basis of which the country's mineral resources will be studied in detail.
“The United States will help our mining industry. We will have detailed geological information in order to attract more investors to the mining industry, including from the US,” said Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava.
According to her, active work is underway on drafting the memorandum.
Support for the implementation of the project was expressed by US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan, the report said.
The preliminary research in the sector is to determine the potential volume of minerals and mineral resources in the country, which will help to attract foreign investment in this sector.
