Iran gas exports to Turkey resumes

TEHRAN, Iran, July 1
Trend:

A spokesman for the National Iranian Gas Company announced the resumption of Iranian gas exports to Turkey from July 1.

"With the completion of repairs on the gas export pipeline in Turkey, Iran's exports to this country were resumed,” Mohammad Asgari said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Iran's gas exports to Turkey have been suspended since April 1, following the explosion and a fire at the export gas pipeline near the common border between two countries.

The National Iranian Gas Company has a long-term gas export agreement with Turkey, implementation of which began in 2001 and is to be lasted for 25 years.

According to the agreement, Turkey must receive at least 8.5 billion cubic meters of gas each year.
