Uzbekistan eyes to increase sustainability of Tashkent's electricity supply

Uzbekistan plans to implement projects on energy-saving substation building in Tashkent region, Trend reports with reference to information-legal portal Norma.uz.

Under the project, it is planned to build a modern energy-saving substation that distributes annual electricity of 500/220/10 kV with capacity of 1,400 mV.

The land in Kuyichirchik District of Tashkent Region will be allocated for this purpose. National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan JSC will compensate owners, users and tenants of land plots for loss of profit.

A preliminary agreement on financing the investment project was reached with the World Bank. It is planned to conclude a loan agreement in December 2020. The final decision on the sources of financing and the conclusion of the project documentation expertise must be made within four months.

During the period from 2021 through early 2022, National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan JSC will prepare and conduct a tender for the selection of the contractor. Construction and installation works will be carried out in the period from 2022 through 2023.

Commissioning of the project is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023.
