SOCAR Turkey’s Bursagas reveals plans by late 2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug.5

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

SOCAR Turkey’s subsidiary Bursagas plans to make 140 million Turkish liras ($20,065,360) worth network investments by late 2020, Bursagaz Director General Bora Cermikli said, Trend reports citing Turkish media.

Bursagaz, the third largest natural gas distributor in Turkey, is currently providing more than 1 million subscribers with natural gas.

He noted that the company’s network investments stood at 125 million Turkish liras ($17,915,500) in 2019.

As for 2020, the director general noted that it is planned to lay 132 kilometers of natural gas lines to supply gas to Harmancik, Orhaneli and Buyukorhan.

Moreover, he pointed out that the company is completing the work on ensuring gas supply to Boyalica district. “The district is expected to get natural gas via 34 kilometers of new gas lines by the end of this summer.”

Cermikli went on to add that it is also planned to start gas supplies to Sarialan-Kirazliyayla and Oteller before the end of 2020. “The total length of our network will reach 6,917 kilometers once these projects are complete.”

SOCAR Turkey completed the acquisition of Bursagaz, Kayserigaz, Enervis, EWE Energy and Millenicom from German Ewe AG in June 2019.

Earlier, EWE AG told Trend that the decision on the possible sale of its assets in Turkey is related to the optimization of the company's activity.

EWE Turkey Holding has been operating in Turkey since 2007 and is the fourth biggest supplier of natural gas in Turkey.
