A combined cycle gas turbine power station with capacity of 1,500 MW will be built in Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.
This was stated in the adopted decree on measures to organize the construction of a new thermal power plant in Syrdarya region dated August 10, 2020.
An investment agreement on construction of the power plant was signed between the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, ACWA Power International (Saudi Arabia) and JV Acwa Power Sirdarya LLC (project company).
The agreement is signed for the next 25 years. The total volume of investments will amount to $1.2 billion. The object will be built in Shirin town of Syrdarya region. ACWA Power will be involved in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant.
The decree approved the agreement on electricity purchase between JSC National Power Grids of Uzbekistan and the project company.
As part of the investment project, the project company is granted the right to open bank accounts abroad in foreign banks for lending, as well as to make direct payments through bank accounts to foreign contractors, suppliers or foreign creditors outside Uzbekistan.
