By Ilkin Seyfaddini - Trend:

Uzbekistan continues negotiations with Russia on construction of a nuclear power plant, said Uzbek Deputy Energy Minister Sherzod Khojaev, Trend reports citing Podrobno.uz news agency.

"We need a little more time so that we can say that the terms of the contract conditions satisfy us. On the one hand, it's not good that the process is taking longer. On the other hand, after every round of negotiations, conditions for the Uzbek side are improving. At some points, it is better to do a little later, but on much more attractive terms ", he said.

According to him, the Uzbek and Russian sides are now discussing the project details.

At the same time, Khojaev added, it is important that the two countries' authorities do not impose strict deadlines on the contact signing date for specialists and relevant structures.

"The country's leadership has set a task that the contract should meet Uzbekistan's interests," the deputy minister concluded.

Russia and Uzbekistan signed an agreement on cooperation in the construction of nuclear power plant - a complex of two units of generation "3 +" with VVER-1200 reactor units in 2018. In October 2018, the presidents of both countries launched the project.

On 15 April 2019, Rusatom Healthcare, the industry complex Rusatom International Network, and the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of radiation technologies and nuclear medicine.
