Two solar panel stations are being installed in the Semnan and Damghan cities of Semnan Province (northern Iran), said Ali Akbar Sabbagh director for Semnan Regional Electric Company (SEMREC), Trend reports citing the Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to Sabbagh, each of these stations will have the potential to generate 10 megawatts of electricity.

The director noted that these solar panel stations are being installed with investment of private sector.

"The necessary steps are taken to create conditions for investors to build solar panels and other alternative renewable energy plants in Semnan Province," he noted.

"Thus, the necessary work has been done to provide investors with licenses and necessary areas of land were allocated to them," Sabbagh added.

The director emphasized that in addition, 17 power plants with a total capacity of 100 kilowatts of electricity are being built in the province under the supervision of the company.
