How South Caucasus Pipeline’s throughput changed over last decade?

Average throughput of the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) has changed between 14 million cubic meters of gas per day in 2010 to 32.8 million cubic meters in the first half of 2020, Trend reports citing BP’s data.

During 2010 SCP daily average throughput was 14 million cubic meters (about 490 million cubic feet) of gas or about 87,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, while in 2011 these figures stood at 12.5 million cubic meters (440 million cubic feet) and about 76,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, respectively.

In 2013, SCP’s daily average throughput rose to about 13.4 million cubic metres (about 473 million cubic feet) of gas or 81,600 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

This is while during 2014, the pipeline’s daily average throughput rose significantly to 18.286 million cubic metres of gas per day and keep on increasing to 18.6 million cubic metres of gas per day in 2015.

SCP’s daily average throughput was 19.9 million cubic metres of gas per day during 2016 and 20.5 million cubic metres of gas per day during 2017.

SCP’s daily average throughput was more than 23 million cubic metres of gas per day during the year of 2018, rising to 29 million cubic metres of gas per day in 2019.

During the first half of 2020, the daily average throughput of SCP was about 32.8 million cubic metres of gas per day, as compared to about 28 million cubic metres of gas per day during the first half of 2019.

The SCP has been operational since late 2006, transporting Shah Deniz gas to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The expanded section of the pipeline commenced commercial deliveries to Turkey in June 2018.

As of 20 March 2020, technical operatorship of the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) has been transferred from BP Exploration (Shah Deniz) Limited to SOCAR Midstream Operations Limited, a fully-owned subsidiary of SOCAR.

The SCP Co. shareholders are: bp (28.8%), TPAO (19.0%), AzSCP (10.0%), SGC Midstream (6.7%), PETRONAS (15.5%), LUKOIL (10.0%) and NICO (10.0%).
