Booster compressor station to be commissioned at Turkmenistan's Malay gas field

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 26

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

A booster compressor station (BSC) with a design capacity of 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year will soon be commissioned at the Malay gas field in Turkmenistan's Lebap region, Trend reports with reference to "Zolotoy Vek" (Golden age) newspaper.

Currently, the station is being equipped with compressor units, other technological and auxiliary equipment.

The decision to build a booster compressor station was made by Turkmenistan’s Turkmengas State Concern in order to stabilize the level of fuel production, the report says.

The Malay gas field has been in commercial development for more than 20 years. Over the years, the gas field has provided gas to settlements and various facilities in Lebap region of the country, as well as supplied many billions of cubic meters of gas for export.

As reported, the construction of a BSC will increase fuel supplies to China.

Turkmenistan will annually supply 65 billion cubic meters of gas to China by the end of 2021, under the agreement signed between Turkmenistan’s Turkmengas and the China National Oil and Gas Corporation (CNPC).

Malay is one of the Turkmenistan’s fields, where natural gas has been produced for many years. The supply of natural gas to Turkmenistan-China interstate gas pipeline is provided from this field.
