Azerbaijan exported 917.6 million standard cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey in June 2020, accounting for 46.09 percent of the country’s total gas imports, Trend reports on Aug.28 citing Turkey’s Energy Markets Regulatory Authority (EPDK).
Gas exports from Azerbaijan to Turkey rose by 41.02 percent year-on-year. Turkey imported 650.67 million standard cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan in June 2019, which accounted for 24.3 percent of its total gas imports.
Azerbaijan is followed by Algeria with 468.39 million standard cubic meters of natural gas and Qatar with 262 million standard cubic meters.
In total, Turkey imported more than 1.9 billion standard cubic meters of natural gas in June 2020, as compared to 2.677 billion standard cubic meters in the same period of 2019.
Azerbaijan supplied 9.585 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey last year. In terms of gas supplies to Turkey in 2019, Azerbaijan ranked second, Russia - first, accounting for 33.6 percent of all supplies, and Iran - third, accounting for 17.11 percent of all supplies.
In general, from 2008 to 2019, Azerbaijan supplied 67.845 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey.
Turkey imports gas from Azerbaijan through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum Gas Pipeline. Under the contract, Turkey annually buys from Azerbaijan 6.6 billion cubic meters of gas produced at the Shah Deniz field.
