SOCAR MARINE: Performance in January-May 2020

SOCAR MARINE, subsidiary of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, sales fuel (transit or export) to vessels performing port operations in international ports within Turkey’s territorial waters, as well as to vessels transiting though Turkey’s territorial waters, SOCAR Turkey told Trend.

SOCAR MARINE is the market leader with 28 percent market share for the period from January through May 2020, the company said.

SOCAR MARINE sold more than 600,000 tons of marine fuels in 2019, thus becoming a leader in Turkey’s international marine fuels sales.

The company sold its marine fuel to vessels, transiting through the Turkish straits, to ships traveling from abroad to ports of the country or in the opposite direction.

Saipem: Engineering begins for contract on gas lift pipeline to Chirag

Engineering has begun for CGLP (Call-off 001) contract for a gas lift pipeline to Chirag platform, for ACE (Call-off 006) and ACE (Call-off 020) projects in Azerbaijan, Italian Saipem company told Trend.

Moreover, the company said work relating to the Shah Deniz 2 (Call-off 007) contract continued for the scope of work encompassing the transportation and installation of production systems and subsea facilities, the laying of optical fibre cables and production umbilicals, start-up, supply of the crew and operational management of the new vessel.

As for the impact of COVID-19 on the activities, Saipem said the immediate activation of Saipem Crisis Unit, which coordinates more than 50 control units around the world, the adoption of adequate healthcare protocols and worker rotation procedures at the operating sites, as well as the acceleration - since mid-February - of the remote work programme gradually extended to all employees, and the constant coordination with clients and suppliers, enabled to progress project activities, albeit within the limits posed on mobility and the need to safeguard the health of people, which remains the company’s top priority.

Saipem: Installation for Absheron project postponed to Q3 2020

For Total E&P, procurement and construction are nearing completion, while installation for the Absheron project, which includes engineering, procurement, construction and installation of pipelines and umbilical systems in the Caspian Sea, has been postponed to the third quarter of this year, Italian Saipem company told Trend.

TAP updates on compressor stations’ construction

At the Kipoi compressor station of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) in Greece construction works, the introduction of gas and all required testing are complete, Vugar Veysalov, TAP Head of External Affairs, told Trend.

He noted that at the Fier compressor station in Albania, construction works and the introduction of gas are also complete.

Testing with gas is scheduled to be complete around mid-September, as per the project plan, added Veysalov.

Trans Adriatic Pipeline: Details of remaining work

Construction works for the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) in Greece and Albania are complete for both the pipeline and the compressor stations and the introduction of gas as part of our testing phase, Vugar Veysalov, TAP Head of External Affairs, told Trend.

“These have been successfully achieved. The Kipoi compressor station in Greece has also been commissioned and tested with gas,” he said.

Veysalov noted that the introduction of gas has been achieved at both the Bilisht metering station and the Fier compressor station.

“In Italy, the construction works for both the onshore and offshore sections of the pipeline are substantially complete. The introduction of gas into the onshore pipeline and the pipeline receiving terminal are scheduled for the third quarter of 2020, in line with the project schedule,” he added.

First tranche of EIB loan for IGB utilized

The project company ICGB which is responsible for the implementation of the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector, has successfully utilized the first tranche of the loan financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB), Trend reports citing the company.

The total value of EIB financing for the purposes of the project amounts to EUR 110 million, which is secured by a guarantee from the Bulgarian state.

SOCAR suspends unprofitable oil fields

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR has suspended the unprofitable onshore oil fields of Azneft production, Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of the public relations and events department at SOCAR, said in response to Trend’s request.

A source in Azerbaijan’s oil and gas market told Trend that Azneft is currently engaged in a total of 45 (25 onshore and 20 offshore) fields in Azerbaijan.

Fourteen fields are currently under development by Azneft.

SOCAR delivers LNG to Pakistan

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR has delivered 140,000 cubic meters of liquified natural gas (LNG) to Pakistan on August 28, Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of the public relations and events department at SOCAR, told Trend.

The joint activity of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and BP Azerbaijan on drilling an exploratory well at the Shafag-Asiman structure is being successfully promoted, Deputy Head of the Event Management and Public Relations Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Ibrahim Ahmadov told Trend.

According to Ahmadov, the drilling is carried out by the team of the SOCAR drilling company - Caspian Drilling Company (CDC), through the SOCAR semi-submersible drilling rig named after Heydar Aliyev.

"The drilling depth has recently topped the level of 3,000 meters," he said.

Azerbaijan's SOCAR talks operations on Central, East Azeri platforms

Oil production at the Central Azeri and East Azeri platforms isn’t planned to be suspended this year, Deputy Head of the Event Management and Public Relations Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Ibrahim Ahmadov told Trend.

According to Ahmadov, the main planned work will be carried out tentatively next year.

"In the same year, some smaller-scale works were performed, including optimization of the manifold system (Manifold is a system of devices and equipment necessary for the smooth operation of oil and gas wells, as well as their launch)," he said.

Ukraine’s Ukrtransnafta puts up another batch of Azerbaijani oil for sale

Ukrtransnafta PJSC, operator of the oil transportation system of Ukraine, has put up for sale 15,000 tons of Azerbaijani oil of Azeri Light grade, Trend reports referring to the Ukrainian media.

The oil is offered from the tanks of the Pivdennyi Offshore Oil Terminal. The trading will be held at the Ukrainian Energy Exchange on Aug. 28.

“The company offered the oil at Azeri Lt FOB Supsa quotations, taking into account the cost of freight ($3 per ton) and transshipment ($1 per ton),” the message said. “The offer has been divided into two lots - 10,000 tons and 5,000 tons of crude oil. The delivery period is September 10-19, 2020.”
