Azerbaijan exported 1.093 billion standard cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey in July 2020, which accounts for 35.17 percent of the country's total gas imports, Trend reports with reference to Turkey’s Energy Markets Regulatory Authority (EPDK).
Gas exports from Azerbaijan to Turkey increased by 21.54 percent year-on-year. Turkey imported 899.97 million standard cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan in July 2019 or 27.63 percent of the country's total gas imports.
Azerbaijan is followed by Russia with 843.23 million standard cubic meters and Iran with 664.36 million standard cubic meters.
In total, Turkey imported more than 3.109 billion cubic meters of natural gas in July 2020, compared to 3.257 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the same period in 2019.
Turkey imports gas from Azerbaijan via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline. The countries have inked a contract for the purchase of 6.6 billion cubic meters of gas produced from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz gas and condensate field.
