BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 21

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The oil extraction from well No. 4 in the Sulabdar oil field were restarted in the 7th month of the current Iranian year (September 22-October 21, 2020) 42 years later, said Ramin Roghanian, Deputy Director of the National Iranian South Oil Company's (NISOC) Technical Affairs Department, Trend reports citing the company’s official website.

The deputy director stressed that daily 1,000 barrels of crude oil were extracted from well No. 4 of Sulabdar oil field.

He added that well No. 3 of Sulabdar oil field, which is located southeast of the Gachsaran oil field, was drilled in 1971. Thus, it was determined for the first time that there was oil in the field. In 1978, well No. 4 was drilled in the field.

Roghanian noted that two repair operations were carried out on the well No. 4 over 1993-2001. However, it was not possible to extract oil from the well due to the field's specific complexity.

The deputy director said the necessary explorations were conducted on well No. 4 of Sulabdar oil field in 2017 and the well was prepared for extraction.
