Iran’s Shazand Oil Refining Company supplies about 15,000 tons of Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line Group’s (IRISL) monthly low-sulfur fuel needs, Deputy Director of IRISL Group Abdolreza Mohebbi said, Trend reports citing National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company’s website.

Mohebbi stressed that Shazand Oil Refining Company has delivered 140,000 tons of low-sulfur fuel to the IRISL Group over the past 10 months.

Mohebbi added that the IRISL Group consumes 50,000 tons of fuel per month under normal conditions.

"However, the fuel consumed by the Group amounts 35,000 tons in the current situation (the spread of coronavirus pandemic and etc.)," he said.

The deputy director noted about 45 percent of the IRISL Group’s monthly low-sulfur fuel needs are supplied by various foreign companies.

According to him, each year, about 180 million tons of fuel is consumed worldwide by ships. Only 1 million tons of it is consumed by the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line Group (IRISL) and the National Iranian Tanker Company.
