BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 27

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Supplying gas to the city of Tsalenjikha, which never before had natural gas, is a specific part of the country's large-scale gas supply program, " Minister of Economy Natia Turnava said, Trend reports via Georgian media.

"Today is a really special day for Tsalenjikha. A very difficult project has been implemented, as 39 km of supply pipe has been constructed in such difficult terrain, but now the population of Tsalenjikha has gas and in late 2021 all the communities - 49 settlements in the district will have natural gas," said the minister.

According to Turnava, 384 settlements in Georgia will be provided with gas within the framework of the 2019-2021 state program and the gas supply rate will exceed 90 percent in the country.

"Since there are still settlements where we want to give access the population to the natural gas, we decided to continue the program and provide gas to 211 more settlements in 2022-2024. As a result, by the end of 2024, more than 600 towns and villages in Georgia will receive natural gas," said Turnava.

Natural gas will become available in 384 villages throughout Georgia, in accordance with the Georgian Government's 2019-2021 plan on the construction of natural gas supply infrastructure.

Construction work within the framework of the three-year plan on the creation of natural gas supply infrastructure has been completed in 187 populated places, allowing 35,859 consumers to be connected to the natural gas network.
