SOCAR eyes to double number of electric charges in Ukraine

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov.5

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR plans to double the number of electric charges in Ukraine in 2021, said Igor Orlov, retail trade director at SOCAR Energy Ukraine, Trend reports.

“To date, we have installed five electric chargers at our filling stations. These are fast charges, which allow you to charge your electric car in 20-30 minutes. SOCAR follows the ongoing changes in this sphere and we understand that the development of electric vehicles in general and the installation of electric chargers are priority for us,” he said.

Orlov pointed out that owners of electric cars definitely live in cities with a population of over one million, in large cities.

“Already now, an electric car can safely travel from Kiev to Odessa. Accordingly, we will primarily install electric charging stations in cities with a population of one million. Currently, we have three stations equipped with electric chargers in Kiev and one station on the Kiev-Odessa and Kiev-Lvov routes each,” he explained.

SOCAR’s representative office opened in Ukraine in 2008.

The company acquired about 20 Tala-Nafta filling stations in Odessa and Nikolaev regions, as well as Svitanok large oil depot in Odessa region in 2009.

The company took control of the fuelling networks ONIO (four filling stations in Kyiv and the region) and GFC (in Lviv region) in 2010-2011. SOCAR received permission from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to purchase 26 filling stations and one tank farm of the Kalina group in August 2012.
