By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

Uzbekistan increased electricity generation from January through September 2020 by 4.05 percent compared to the same period in 2019 due to increased electricity consumption during a cold snap, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

The volume of electricity generated by the country's enterprises during the reporting period amounted to more than 51.65 billion kW / h of electricity.

In addition, about 20.68 million Gcal of heat was produced in Uzbekistan for 10M2020, which is 0.58 percent less compared to the same period in 2019.

In September, it was reported that Uzbekistan increased electricity generation for 9M2020 by 3.53 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

The volume of heat energy produced in Uzbekistan for 9M2020 amounted to about 18.94 million Gcal, which is 0.23 percent less compared to the same period in 2019.

Earlier, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan told that the reason for the power outages that recently occurred in Uzbekistan are connected with increased electricity consumption during a cold snap.

“With increased electricity consumption (in summer or winter), even in developed countries, ensuring the energy balance between consumption and production is a difficult task, which leads to major systemic accidents with disruption of the stability of the power system and the interruption of the supply of electricity in full and complete repayment of entire regions for a long time," the ministry told.

The ministry explained, in situations where it is not possible to ensure the energy balance, at the command of the higher dispatching department, the enterprises of the territorial networks are forced to turn off part of the consumers in accordance with the "rolling" schedule. It is reported that these graphs cover low-voltage distribution electrical networks - feeder 0.4 kV, 6 - 10 kV.
