Ukrainian refineries get around 138,000 tons of Azeri Light via UkrTransNafta

The volume of oil transportation by UkrTransNafta joint-stock company of Ukraine stood at 13.2 million tons in the first ten months of 2020, or 4.9 percent more as compared to the same period in 2019, Trend reports citing UkrTransNafta.

“Ukrainian refineries received 2.2 million tons of oil from January through October 2020, 9.8 percent more than in the same period in 2019. This is while oil transit stood at 11.1 million tons, 4 percent more as compared to the same period in 2019,” reads a message from the company.

As for October 2020 alone, the total volume of oil transportation by the company went down by 3.5 percent as compared to October 2019 and stood at 1.4 million tons.

The company saw a 7.3 percent decrease in oil transit via pipelines through Ukraine’s territory, which amounted to 1.2 million tons. This is while the volume of oil transportation for Ukrainian refineries rose by 19 percent and equaled to 250,800 tons with 113,300 tons accounting for Ukrainian oil and 137,500 tons accounting for Azerbaijani Azeri Light oil.

Ukrainian energy ministry told Trend that the country in interested in increasing the volume of gas, oil and oil products’ imports from Azerbaijan.

“Euro-Asian Oil Transport Corridor (EAOTC) project is one of the key elements of energy cooperation between Ukraine and Azerbaijan to create a new route for oil transportation from the Caspian Sea region to EU markets via pipelines,” said the ministry.
