Turkmenistan, Russia agree to expand co-op in electric power industry

Turkmenistan and Russia signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of electric power between the ministries of the energy of the two countries, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Memorandum was signed on November 25 during an online meeting of the co-chairs of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on economic cooperation Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk.

The parties discussed the current situation and prospects for cooperation between the two countries on a wide range, and also confirmed the high level of Turkmen-Russian relations.

The sides also talked about the development of the legal framework for cooperation, considered trade and economic partnership, as well as interaction in the industrial and financial and banking spheres.

In addition, the fight against the new coronavirus infection, including the exchange of experience between relevant structures was also touched upon. During the meeting, aspects of cooperation in the field of education were analyzed, including improving the partnership structure

The parties expressed hope for holding a regular meeting of the intergovernmental Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation in person.
