World gas consumption stood at 3.851 trillion cubic meters in 2019, as compared to 3.793 trillion cubic meters in 2018, Trend reports citing Eni’s World Gas and Renewables Review 2020.
Eni report shows that the world consumed a total of 2.408 billion cubic meters of gas in 2000, raising this figure to 2.744 billion cubic meters in 2005.
In 2010, this figure stood at 3.181 billion cubic meters, before rising to 3.406 billion cubic meters in 2015.
The upward trend continued in 2016, brining the world natural gas consumption to 3.509 billion cubic meters, before rising to 3.603 billion cubic meters in 2017.
Europe’s gas consumption stood at 569.62 billion cubic meters in 2019, Russia and Central Asia - 574.39 billion cubic meters, Middle East – 518.18 billion cubic meters, Africa – 154.52 billion cubic meters, Asia-Pacific – 821.62 billion cubic meters and Americas - 1.212 trillion cubic meters.
World’s gas reserves stood at 211.428 trillion cubic meters as of 2019, as compared to 211.044 trillion cubic meters in 2018.
Europe’s gas reserves amounted to 3.829 trillion cubic meters in 2019, Russia and Central Asia’s reserves stood at 73.910 trillion cubic meters, Middle East – 81.014 trillion cubic meters, Africa - 15.439 trillion cubic meters, Asia-Pacific - 14.240 trillion cubic meters, Americas - 22.995 trillion cubic meters.
