A number of operations have been launched to maintain and increase extraction from the 6th phase of the Marun oil field in Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran), the Technical Director of National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) Sadegh Fatollahi said, Trend reports referring to the company's website.
Fatollahi said that the operations on the 6th phase of Marun oil field is implemented by Iranian E&P Negin Afagh Kish Energy Development Co. (TENCO) under a $132 million worth of contract.
"According to the contract, 12 new wells will be drilled in the 6th phase and one well will be repaired," he said.
The director noted that the renovation of existing pipelines and equipment for oil refining and transportation and the installation of new equipment are planned based on the contract.
The Marun oil field is located in the southeast of the Ahvaz county of Khuzestan Province. The oil field is 65 kilometers long and 7 kilometers wide. So far, 477 wells have been drilled in this field, and oil is extracted from about 285 wells. Daily oil extraction in this field is about 350,000 barrels.
On August 17, a contract was signed between Iran's Marun Oil & Gas Production Company (MOGPC) and Iranian E&P Negin Afagh Kish Energy Development Co. (TENCO) related to with the 2nd, 5th and 6th phases of Iran's Marun field.
