Azerbaijan records decrease in electricity generation volume

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 16

Azerbaijan has generated 2.12 billion kWh of electricity in Nov. 2020, Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy told Trend.

The ministry said that electricity export was 89.14 million kWh during the reporting month, whereas its import amounted to 10.6 million kWh.

“Compared to the same month in 2019, the volume of generated electricity decreased by 56.3 million kWh, export by 45.56 million kWh, whereas import increased by 3 million kWh,” the ministry said.

Furthermore, the volume of electricity generated over the period from Jan. through Nov. 2020 decreased by 197.7 million kWh compared to the same period last year, having amounted to 23.42 billion kWh.

From January through November 2020, Azerenerji OJSC produced over 20.87 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, of which 20.03 billion kilowatt-hours were generated through thermal power plant (TPP). Meanwhile, the State Energy Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic produced 397 million kilowatt-hours (205.7 million kilowatt-hours by TPP), 39.4 million kilowatt-hours – by solar power plant), and over 1.07 billion kilowatt-hours by independent power plants.
