BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 25
By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:
Uzbekistan plans to develop the Apartak open field to meet the demand for coal, and increase coal production by 2.5 times next year, bringing the volume of gross output to one million tons, Trend reports referring to Uzbekcoal OJSC.
According to preliminary estimates of Uzbekcoal OJSC, the annual demand for coal in Uzbekistan amounts to more than six million tons. This year, Uzbekcoal OJSC supplied 3.8 million tons. In 2021, it is planned to produce 4.45 million tons of coal.
“These figures will grow from year to year and within three years the figure of six million tons will be reached,” Uzbekcoal OJSC said.
Currently, measures are being taken to tangibly improve the quality of coal supplied to the population. Five new units were installed and put into operation, which were not previously used in coal mining. Moreover, in order to prevent coal crushing during its mining, loading and unloading, the railroad tracks are extended to the face.
It was noted that Uzbekcoal JSC has planned the supply of 1,345,400 tons of coal to the population and social facilities in the autumn-winter period 2020/2021. Of these, budgetary organizations are expected to be supplied with 405,000 tons, and 940,000 tons of coal products will be supplied to the population.
In addition, work was accelerated at the existing deposits to develop the upper layer of coal, increase the volume of solid fuel production, and introduce an effective system for the supply of finished products to consumers. Thus, budgetary organizations were provided with coal products ahead of schedule, on October 26, and the population was provided with coal products on December 3.
Due to the early onset of winter and a sharp cold snap, the government assigned the Uzbekcoal OJSC the task of supplying an additional 149,000 tons of coal for the needs of the population, which was completed on December 23.
