To date, the first combined-cycle plant with a capacity of 280 megawatts is operating in an experimental mode at Takhiatash thermal power plant (TPP) in Takhiatash district of Karakalpakstan Republic, Chairman of the Board of Thermal Power Plants JSC Ruslan Mubarakshin said, Trend reports citing nuz.uz.

According to the information, two steam-gas plants with a capacity of 280 MW each are under construction at the Takhiatash TPP. The total cost of this international project with the participation of the Hunday South Korean consortium amounts to $678.2 million. The second combined cycle plant is expected to be launched soon.

In 2020, Thermal Power Plants JSC and heating plants plan to produce 58.5 billion kWh of electricity. However, it is expected that 60.5 billion kWh of electricity will be generated, which is 4.1 billion kWh more than last year.

Currently, Thermal power plants JSC make up the bulk of Uzbekistan’s generating capacities, which accounts for 85 percent.

In addition, the construction of two combined cycle gas turbines with a capacity of 450 MW each was completed at the Turakurgan thermal power plant. After launching the second combined cycle plant at full capacity, the station operates according to the established schedule.

It was noted that both combined-cycle plants will annually generate 6.7 billion kWh of electricity, and the conventional amount of fuel consumed to generate 1 kW / hour of electricity amounts to 221.2 grams per kWh.

Furthermore, a two-phase power transmission line with a length of over 100 kilometers from the Turakurgan district of the Namangan region to the city of Andijan was built for the saved funds in the amount of $27.3 million within the framework of the project.

Also, six power units of the Syrdarya thermal power plant with a total value of $177.7 million are being modernized in three stages in 2018-2021. To date, the third and fourth power units have been updated.
