The mentioned issues were discussed at a meeting of the Minister of Energy Alisher Sultanov with the heads of the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan in foreign countries on January 14, 2021.

In particular, they discussed the implementation of the agreement on the project on construction of a 500 kV power transmission line Surkhan – Puli-Khumri (Afghanistan), the construction of four new thermal power plants with a capacity of 940 MW together with Turkish companies, and the implementation of the construction of renewable energy projects with companies from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, France.

According to the ministry, these and other issues are being worked out by the Ministry of Energy in conjunction with the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan in order to quickly implement the planned projects in the fuel and energy complex.

“Today, this partnership is based on foreign direct investment and a new basis for the energy sector of Uzbekistan - public-private partnership (PPP),” the ministry noted.

It was noted that applications for participation in tenders are submitted by up to 80 potential foreign investors as part of the implementation of projects based on PPP, in particular for the construction of solar and wind power plants.
