Iran's gas processing potential to increase

Iran's gas processing capacity will increase to 1.03 billion cubic meters daily, Deputy Oil Minister and Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Hassan Montazer Torbati said in press conference, Trend reports referring to IRIB.

The deputy minister stressed that at the same time, gas transportation in Iran will increase to 900 million cubic meters per day.

Montazer Torbati added that in this regard, the laying of two new gas pipelines launched in Iran.

The director noted that Iran's gas extraction exceeds daily 1 billion cubic meters at present. This is equivalent to 6 million barrels of oil daily.

According to him, gas consumption in the housing sector in Iran also exceeded 600 million cubic meters per day.

"Iran's thermal power plants consume an average of 100-130 million cubic meters of gas per day," he said.

Montazer Torbati emphasized that despite the increase in gas consumption in Iran, Iran's gas exports to Iraq and Turkey continue.
