By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:
The work is currently underway to supply gas to 2,630 villages inhabited by 184,000 families in Iran, Trend reports citing the Shana news agency.
This is reflected in the report of the Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on gas supplies to Iran.
Zanganeh said that 30 trillion rials (about $714 million) has been spent on the gas supplying to these villages.
"More than 20,000 villages in Iran inhabited by 1.76 million families were supplied with gas from March 21, 2013 to the end of the 11th month of the current Iranian year (February 18, 2021). So, the number of villages supplied with gas in Iran increased from 14,000 to 34,000,"he added.
The minister noted that at the same time, about 193 cities inhabited by 641,000 families were supplied with gas during the mentioned period.
Zanganeh stressed in general, more than 98.4 percent of Iran's urban population, 84 percent of rural population and 95 percent of the country's total population were supplied with gas.
According to him, as a result of gas supply and related work, more than 58 billion liters of liquid products worth $25 billion have been exported since March 21, 2014. Thus, Iran's oil products export increased by 4 percent in the last Iranian year last year (March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020) compared to 2012.
