SOCAR Turkey implementing digital transformation projects guided by Industry 4.0 principles

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 3

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Guided by Industry 4.0 principles and the best solutions, a number of projects in digital transformation are underway in all companies of SOCAR Turkey, Chief Digital Transformation Officer of SOCAR Turkey Hakan Irgit told Trend.

“We consider Industry 4.0 as a process management where we put the concepts of "digital factory" and "digital worker" at its center and integrate all our business systems with digital technologies. In this respect, Industry 4.0 constitutes a structure where we expand the use of advanced analytical applications and artificial intelligence in all processes, and include augmented and virtual reality technologies in both operational and administrative processes such as production, maintenance, training and occupational safety,” he said.

“Again, Industry 4.0 refers to a structure where we achieve perfect decision-making processes through artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms that allow the use of big data. We ensure excellence in operation and efficiency in production. We plan to use robotic process automation more widely in the upcoming period. Alongside with process automation, new technologies and development areas such as process mining and the use of artificial intelligence are on our spotlight. In addition to all these, we want to take advantage of the opportunities that may arise with developments in areas such as the internet of things, blockchain, augmented reality, and mobility. Some of the changes that come into our lives with the pandemic will irreversibly become an integral part of our new life. We are entering a period in which physical contact, which we call "low-touch economy", decreases and social distance increases. In this context, many issues that we will support with digital technologies in order for our employees and stakeholders to adapt to the new era are on our agenda.

In the period of exit from the pandemic, I believe that the digitalization of decision support stages and the automation of decisions with applications such as advanced analytics and machine learning will play a very important role. With such applications, we can respond very quickly to capacity changes in production or changes in the product range, and increase our productivity significantly. Like many companies, the critical steps taken in relation to efficiency and the capacity to adapt rapidly to changing conditions and the technologies that support this will be among our important agenda items in the upcoming period.
