Iran kicks off development of Ramin oil field in Khuzestan Province

The drilling of the first well, as part of development of Iran's Ramin oil field, in the territory of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) in the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) has been started, manager of the plan of National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) on the development of Ramin oil field, Hossein Rahimi said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to Rahimi, the first well is being drilled with the 'Fath 35' drilling rig of the NIDC. The NIDC will drill eight wells in the field in cooperation with the Iranian Persia Oil And Gas Industry Development Company.

“The next drilling rigs will be installed in this field and the drilling operation will be launched,” he added.

The Ramin oil field is developed by the Karun Oil and Gas Production Company, which operates under the auspices of the NISOC. It is estimated that the field contains more than 7 billion barrels of crude oil, of which about 1 billion barrels can be extracted.

So far, 9 wells have been drilled in this field. At present, 3,100 barrels of crude oil are extracted from the field.

The implementation of the plan on development of the Ramin oil field has been assigned to the Iranian Persia Oil And Gas Industry Development Company.
