Turkish Energy Ministry prolongs Shell, Turcas Petrol's licenses for oil, gas exploration

Energy Market Regulatory Authority under Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey has extended the licenses for the exploration of oil and gas deposits issued to Shell and Turcas Petrol companies, Trend reports on Mar.9 referring to the ministry.

The license was extended until June 28, 2036, said the ministry.

Shell and Turcas Petrol are engaged in exploration and production of oil and gas, the production and processing of petroleum products, and also own fuel stations. Products of the companies are sold all over the world.

In January 2021, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to over 29.1 million tons, including more than 2.5 million tons by ships flying the Turkish flag.

During the reporting month, 6.04 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

Besides, according to the ministry, in 2020, the volume of cargo movement through the Turkish ports amounted to 365.4 million tons.

Some 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled by ships flying Turkish flag, and 335.7 million tons – by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Over the past year, more than 72.4 million tons of cargo had been transited through the ports of Turkey, added the ministry.
