Kazakhstan sees decrease in revenues from transportation via pipelines

Kazakhstan’s revenue from the product transportation via pipelines amounted to 235.9 billion tenge ($560.09 million) over the period from January through February 2021, which is 21.3 percent less than during the same period of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The revenue for Feb. 2021 amounted to 115.2 billion tenge ($273.5 million), which is 21.9 percent less compared to Feb. 2020.

The volume transported during the reporting period amounted to 43.1 million tons, which is 11.5 percent less compared to the same period of last year (20.7 million in Feb. 2021, 14.2 percent less compared to Feb. 2020)

Cargo turnover amounted to 21.6 billion ton-kilometers which is 6.4 percent less than during the same period of last year. The cargo turnover for Feb. 2021 stood at 10.3 billion t-km, which is 8.7 percent less compared to the same month of 2020.

The majority of the products transported via pipelines accounted for the Atyrau region of the country, i.e. 12.8 million tons over two months of 2021, which is 18.3 percent less compared to the same period last year (4.3 million tons in Feb. 2021, 22 percent less year-on-year).

Kazakhstan’s largest oil pipeline company is KazTransOil, which provides services on oil transportation on the domestic market and for export.

The company is an owner of the largest network of main oil pipelines and water lines in the country, the total length of which amounts to 5,376 km of oil pipelines and 1,975 km of water pipeline.
