Georgia imported 463.1 million kilowatt-hours of electricity from Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2021, Trend reports via the Georgian Energy Market Operator (ESCO).
According to the ESCO, this figure is 15 percent more than in the same period last year.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan provided 32.2 percent of Georgia’s demand for electricity.
In the first three months of 2021, Georgia received 863.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity from Russia and 111.1 million kilowatt-hours from Turkey.
Since 2006, the Electricity Market Operator has been serving the stability of the Georgian Electric Power Sector, the Country’s uninterrupted supply, and active development of the Georgian Energy System. ESCO has commenced its operation in 2006, based on the amendments introduced to the Law of Georgia on Electricity and Natural Gas.
