A total of 4,866 oil and gas wells have been drilled in Iran from the Iran's Islamic Revolution (in 1979) to the end of last Iranian year (March 20, 2021), Managing Director of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC), Abdollah Mousavi told ISNA, Trend reports.
According to him, 411 oil and gas wells have been drilled offshore.
Mousavi added that of these wells, 2,467 units were development wells, 118 units - delineation well, 148 units - exploration well, and 2,133 units- repair wells.
The director stressed that in total, 9.67 million meters of excavations were carried out during the reporting period.
“As many as 1,884 of these wells were drilled in the directional form. About 875,000 meters of excavations have been carried out in the directional form,” he said.
Mousavi noted that 116 oil and gas wells were drilled in Iran within last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021). So, 113 of them were drilled onshore and 3 offshore. Of these wells, 26 units were development wells, 2 units - delineation wells, 4 units - exploration wells, and 84 units - repair wells.
The official emphasized that excavations will be carried out in Iran over the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022) in accordance with the plan for the development of 28 oil reservoirs. Under this plan, excavations will be carried out in the Balarud, Lali Bangestan, Ramin, Sepehr and Jufair, Siyah makan, Naft Shahr, Gachsaran, Ahvaz 1 and Ahvaz 4, Marun 2 and Marun 5 oil reservoirs.
“The NIDC is currently carried out excavations with 55 heavy drilling rigs in Khuzestan, Fars, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Bushehr, Ilam, Kermanshah and Golestan provinces of Iran,” he added.
