Kazakhstan boosts production of coal, some petroleum products

Kazakhstan has extracted 28.9 million tons of coal over the period from January through March 2021, which is 0.1 percent more than in 2020, Trend reports citing Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The report said that the volume of coal extracted in March 2021 stood at 9.4 million tons, which in turn is 3.1 percent less than in Mar. 2020.

Furthermore, crude oil extraction including gas condensate was 21.1 million tons during the reporting period, which is 10.4 percent less as compared to the volume extracted during the same period of 2020. Kazakhstan’s March oil output was 7.3 million tons, which also is 8 percent less than during the same month of 2020.

Kazakhstan has also extracted 13.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas during the reporting period of 2021 and 4.7 billion cubic meters in March, which is 9.3 and 7.5 percent less year-on-year.

Fuel oil manufacturing volume stood at 742,600 tons and 229,600 tons during the reporting period and Mar. 2021 respectively, which is 33.6 percent more and 40.5 percent more than during the same period of 2020.

Kerosene manufacturing amounted to 131,000 tons over three months (up by 4.1 percent) and 58,500 tons in Mar. 2021 (up by 2.1 times), whereas diesel manufacturing equaled 1.1 million tons over three months (corresponds to the last year’s volume) and 412,800 tons in Mar. 2021 (11.5 percent more).

Hydrocarbon liquefied gases output was 274,500 tons over three months of 2021 with an annual decrease of 19.6 percent, whereas March output was 87,100 tons (down by 19.7 percent annual).

Electricity generation over three months of 2021 equaled 30.9 billion kWh, which is 3.2 percent more than in 2020, whereas the volume of electricity generated in Mar. 2021 amounted to 10.4 billion kWh, which is 6.9 percent more year-on-year.

The volume of thermal energy generated from January through March 2021 amounted to 35.3 million Gcal with an annual increase of 10.4 percent, whereas March 2021 output was 10.7 million Gcal, which is 11.9 percent more than in Mar. 2020.
