Italy considers digitalization and modernization of gas transmission system in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan and Italy discussed issues of cooperation in the field of ASKUG software (automated system of commercial gas metering), MTO (methanol-to-olefins) technology, gas filling stations, a project to modernize the gas transportation system of Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

A delegation headed by the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Alisher Sultanov visited Rome (Italy) on a working trip, during which meetings were held with the heads of the companies Pietro Fiorentini, Terranova, Danieli, Amec Foster Wheeler - WOOD, as well as the Italian Export Credit Agency SACE and the Italian Foreign Ministry.

In particular, during negotiations with Pietro Fiorentini and Terranova, the possibilities of cooperation were discussed in order to improve the software for the project for the production of ‘smart’ gas meters at Technopark LLC. And

Also, the parties discussed the organization of production with deep localization of industrial gas meters for greenhouses, gas filling stations and other industrial facilities, including, the possibility of foreign participation in the digitalization and modernization of the gas transportation system, the creation of a unified billing system in the energy sector of Uzbekistan.

In addition, the issues of implementation of the project for the construction of a gas chemical complex using MTO technology were discussed with Amec Foster Wheeler – WOOD headed by President for Technological and Chemical Directions Giuseppe Zuccaro and Director for Technological Processes and Energy Rosa Domenichini.

The issues of financing projects in Uzbekistan were the topic of negotiations between the delegation of Uzbekistan and the Italian Export Credit Agency SACE.

The chief executive officer of the agency Pierfrancesco Latini expressed his readiness to study the possibility of financing promising projects in a number of areas, including the expansion of production of ‘smart’ natural gas meters, modernization of the gas transportation system of Uzbekistan, construction of a gas chemical complex using MTO technology in the Bukhara region.

At the same time, Di Stefano expressed support for expanding cooperation with SACE and noted that the Italian government will urge SACE to take more risk in financing projects in Uzbekistan.
