About 77 percent of Iran's power plants have been repaired, which can generate more than 70,000 megawatt-hours of electricity, an official of Thermal Power Plants Holding Company Esmaeil Namazi said, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to him, repair work at Iran's power plants begins on August 5 every year and continues until May 21 next year.

Namazi added that as of May 22, 583 units of 129 power plants in Iran will be ready to generate electricity.

The official noted that in general, it is planned to carry out repairs at power plants that generate a total of 90,000 megawatt-hours of electricity during the reporting period and will be completed until mentioned date.

As reported, Iran's electricity generation potential is 86,000 megawatt-hours, of which 68,000 megawatt-hours are accounted for by thermal power plants.
