SOCAR Turkey’s petrochemical unit increases recycling by over 30%

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5

The Refinery and Petrochemicals Business Unit of Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR’s subsidiary in Turkey has increased recycling by 32 percent, Trend quoted SOCAR Turkey Refinery and Petrochemicals Business Unit and General Manager of Petkim Anar Mammadov as saying.

He pointed out that as part of the sustainability goals, the company has created waste management system for Petkim petrochemical complex, STAR oil refinery and SOCAR Storage (SOCAR Depolama).

“With the Zero Waste Project we have launched in our three companies, we aim to make more efficient use of resources and return waste to the economy by collecting it on site. In this regard, we have updated waste management systems and waste collection machines in all our production areas. We have improved the areas where waste is temporarily stored. During the year, we conducted trainings and awareness-raising events for all our employees,” added Mammadov.
