Petrochemical plants to be put into operation in Iran

Three petrochemical plants will be put into operation in Iran on May 20, Deputy Oil Minister and Executive Director of Iran’s National Petrochemical Company, Behzad Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The director said that one of the petrochemical plants to be put into operation is the Sabalan methanol plant. So, the plant will produce 1.65 million tons of methanol per year.

Mohammadi added that another plant to be put into operation is the Masjed-Soleiman plant. This plant will produce 1.7 million tons of urea and ammonia per year.

“The 3rd plant to be put into operation is a plant of Assaluyeh Elixir Halal Company. The plant will produce 50,000 tons of pentane and hexane per year,” he noted.

The deputy minister emphasized that 17 plants with a potential to produce 25 million tons of petrochemicals have been put into operation in Iran over the past 1 year.

According to him, the production in petrochemical industry of Iran will be at least 130 million tons annually until March 20, 2026.

Reportedly, Iran is implementing two plans to increase the production of petrochemical products. According to the first plan, Iran's petrochemical production will increase from 66 million tons to 100 million tons per year, and the revenues from $15 billion to $25 billion until March 20, 2022.

According to the second plan, Iran's petrochemical production will reach 133 million tons per year and the revenues will reach $37 billion by March 20, 2026.
