Gulabird small hydroelectric power station has been commissioned in Azerbaijan’s Lachin district, Director of the Azerbaijani State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources Tabriz Ammayev told Trend.
"The repair and restoration work at the Gulabird small hydroelectric power station has been completed," director of the agency added.
"The Armenian occupants destroyed small hydroelectric power plants in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from the Armenian occupation, in particular, in Kalbajar, Lachin and other districts," Ammayev said. "Depending on the demand for electricity, these hydroelectric power plants will be restored and put into operation in accordance with the international environmental standards."
"Two hydroelectric power plants "Sugovushan-1" and "Sugovushan-2", located in Sugovushan village of Azerbaijan’s Tartar district liberated from the occupation, will also be restored and put into operation soon," director of the agency said.
The use of renewable energy sources was determined by the president as one of the priority spheres for the development of the energy sector.
Special attention is paid to implementation of pilot projects for the construction of a wind power plant with a capacity of 240 megawatts and a solar power plant with a capacity of 200 megawatts in accordance with the agreements signed with ACWA Power and Masdar (UAE) on January 9, 2021.
