The second unit of the Takht Jamshid Pars Assaluyeh Petrochemical Company’s plant in the Bushehr Province (southern Iran) was put into operation today on May 20, Trend reports citing IRINN.
According to the report, the second unit of the company's plant can produce 40,000 tons of normal hexane and 10,000 tons of pentane a year.
The second unit of the plant was built in 16 months and about $48 million has been spent on this unit by the private sector. The unit is expected to generate more than $40 million a year.
Annually 260,000 tons of raffinate will be transported from Nouri Petrochemical Company to Takht Jamshid Pars Assaluyeh Petrochemical Company. About 210,000 tons of raffinate will be used at the company's third plant, which is under construction.
As many as 120 people were employed in the second unit of the company's plant. About 90 percent of the equipment and spare parts used at the plant have been produced in Iran domestically.
As reported, three petrochemical facilities worth $1.3 billion were put into operation in Iran on May 20, and as result, 2,450 people were employed. With the launch of these facilities, Iran's petrochemicals production potential has increased by 3.5 million tons.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh and other officials attended the event dedicated to the launch of petrochemical facilities online format.
The production of petrochemical industry in Iran reportedly will be minimum 130 million tons per year until March 20, 2026.
