In order to increase Uzbekistan's export potential and import substitution of hydrocarbon products, from the 3Q2021, the Uzbekistan GTL plant plans to produce and supply high-quality synthetic products to domestic and foreign markets, Trend reports citing Uzbekneftegaz JSC.
It is reported that with the launch of the plant, among other synthetic products, it is planned to produce synthetic kerosene, the use of which is currently allowed in a proportion of up to 50 percent in relation to Jet A-1 aviation kerosene obtained on the basis of this petroleum raw materials.
At the initiative of the Chairman of the Management Board of Uzbekneftegaz JSC Mehriddin Abdullayev, negotiations were held under the leadership of the First Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan Airways JSC Umid Khusanov and with the participation of senior specialists of Uzbekistan Airports JSC and the Civil Aviation Agency under the Ministry of Transport in order to widely discuss these issues.
It was noted that after the commissioning of the Uzbekneftegaz GTL plant, synthetic kerosene will be supplied to the Bukhara refinery, where the production of the Jet A-1 semi-synthetic fuel will be established in accordance with the ASTM D7566 standard. The products will meet the needs of domestic and international aviation fuel.
According to the information, the 73rd Annual General Meeting of IATA in 2010 adopted a Resolution to reduce aviation emissions by 50 percent by 2050 compared to 2005. As a result of research and scientific and practical work of international organizations, it was noted that the semi-synthetic Jet A-1 fuel from a mixture of synthetic kerosene reduces harmful emissions into the atmosphere by up to 40 percent compared to Jet A-1 fuel, obtained on the basis of petroleum raw materials.
In addition, it was noted at the meeting that rapid economic growth, improved living standards for the country's population and the easing of restrictions to combat the COVID-19 pandemic around the world have led to high demand not only for domestic consumption of aviation fuel, but also for fuel for international flights.
In this regard, issues were widely discussed to be resolved by Uzbekneftegaz GTL, Bukhara Refinery and aviation fuel consumers, i.e. Uzbekistan Airports JSC and Uzbekistan Airports JSC to organize the start of supplies of semi-synthetic jet fuel, and a roadmap of the action plan was developed.
