Kazakh Gas Refinery resumes operations following fire

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23

The aftermath of the fire was liquidated at Kazakh Gas Refinery, Trend reports citing KazMunayGas National Company, which operates the refinery.

Upheaval of the air-conditioner compressor shop of Kazakh Gas Refinery LLP in Mangystau region’s Zhanaozen city took place at 23:15 (GMT +6) on June 16.

The fire was completely liquidated at 23:52 hours. No casualties were reporteds. KazMunayGas set up the operational headquarters under the leadership of the company’s Chairman of the Board Alik Aidarbayev to conduct the necessary work.

Thus, 75 specialists were involved in the work to deal with the fire aftermath. Parts of the damaged structures and auxiliary equipment were dismantled. New radiators, heat exchangers, fans, electric motors have been installed, electrical wiring has been laid, etc.

“Thanks to the well-coordinated actions of the team and the support of KazMunayGas, it was possible to quickly eliminate the consequences of the fire and completely restore the operation of the enterprise,” the statement said.

The work carried out made it possible to ensure 100 percent intake of raw gas. The plant resumed a normal operations regime: 95,000-100,000 cubic meters of gas per hour.
