Iran shares data on electricity imports

Daily electricity imports of Iran from other countries rose to about 650 megawatt-hours in the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), the Spokesman for the Ministry of Energy of Iran Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi told ILNA, Trend reports.

According to him, this figure will increase to 700 megawatt-hours daily in the coming days. This is an increase of 1.8 times compared to the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).

The spokesman added that last year, Iran imported an average of 400-500 megawatt hours of electricity daily when needed.

Rajabi Mashhadi noted that Iran imported electricity from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and other countries.

Reportedly, electricity consumption in Iran peaks in summer. For this reason, Iran imports electricity from other countries.
